The riots of June 7, 1919, were marked in Xagħra last Sunday by the Gozo Committee for National and Regional Celebrations. A Mass led by archpriest Carmelo Refalo was followed by a reenactment of the Sette Giugno events in the village square by the Xagħra Historical Reenactment Organisation. Gozo Minister Anton Refalo, among others, laid wreaths and bouquets of flowers near a commemorative plaque at Bullara Street, Xagħra, outside the house where one of the riot victims, Joseph Bajada, used to live.
