BILOCCA. On June 9, at St Vincent de Paul residence, GERALD V., aged 90, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his much beloved wife Odelia, his brother Anthony Paul, his sister Lucia, all his in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves the residence on Friday, June 12 for the Capuchins’ Holy Cross church, Floriana, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2pm, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. GAUCI. On June 8, at Mater Dei Hospital, ALICE of Sliema, aged 87, passed away peacefully comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her daughter Josianne, her son Tonio and his wife Daniela, her grandchildren Luca and Justyne, her sister Yolanda Farrugia and her sister-in-law Lucy Farrugia, other relatives and friends. The funeral cortège leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 2pm for Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 2.30pm, followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Puttinu Cares Children’s Cancer Support Group, Rainbow Ward, Mater Dei Hospital, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

PACE – INEZ of Sliema, passed away to eternal life, joining her husband Victor, her children Reggie, Doris, Hector and his wife Tessie, Eileen, and her grandchild Doranne, at the venerable age of 100, on June 9, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her great loss her beloved children Godfrey and his wife Catherine, Janet and her husband Alfred Sciberras, Remmy and his wife Connie of Australia, and Rosian and her husband Derek Huband, her grandchildren Doreen, Christine, Jesmond, Micheline, Marcia, Liza, Katya and their spouses, and her beloved great-grandchildren Jean Luc, Kane and Kelly, Michela and Nicholas, Tyler and Isaac, Joe, Jessica and Zara Rose, and Ylenia, her nephews and nieces, cousins and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital on Saturday, June 13 at 9am for Sacro Cuor parish church, Sliema, where Mass præsente cadavere will be said at 9.30am, followed by interment in the family grave at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery (back entrance). No flowers by request but donations to Puttinu Cares Children’s Cancer Support Group, Rainbow Ward, Mater Dei Hospital, will be greatly appreciated. The family regret that they are unable to receive visitors. We thank God for the presence of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother in our lives. She taught us so much and she will live on in our hearts. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Friday, June 12 being the trigesima die from the death of ANTOINE CACHIA CARUANA, a Mass for the repose of his soul will be celebrated at 6.30pm at Casa Leone XIII chapel, Sacred Heart Avenue, St Julian’s. Friends and relatives are invited to attend. Tomorrow being the first anniversary of the demise of MARK SAMUT-TAGLIAFERRO, the 6.45pm Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel church, Paceville, will be offered for the repose of his soul.

Traffic diversions

Part of the Birkirkara bypass, in the direction towards Valletta, will be closed for road surface repairs until Friday, Transport Malta said in a statement.

Repair works on that stretch of Dun Karm Street started last night and are expected to be completed by Friday night.

Access to Iklin centre, through Triq Geronimo Abos, and access to Mater Dei Hospital will not be obstructed.

The bus service in Dun Karm Street from Iklin to Mater Dei Hospital will not be provided today from 10.30pm onwards. The bus service at the university interchange will not be provided tomorrow and Friday from 10.30pm onwards.

Transport Malta also said that following re-surfacing works in Sir Paul Boffa Avenue, Paola, the road will be closed to traffic today between 11pm and 5am, due to painting of line markings. All traffic coming from Triq Kordin will be diverted towards Paola Hill, Luqa Road and Vjal Santa Luċija.

Triq Bieb ir-Riebu, the main road to Baħrija, will be completely closed to vehicular traffic as from today to accommodate the works on the new sewer main project in Baħrija which is being carried out by the Water Services Corporation.

All vehicular traffic, including public transport, will be diverted through the Santi area. This diversion applies to both directions.

Transport Malta advised motorists to proceed with caution and to follow diversion signs. It regretted any inconvenience caused.
