Lewis Hamilton insists his self-professed rock and roll lifestyle away from Formula One will not lead to him falling off the rails.

The two-time world champion remains on course to add a third crown after easing to victory in Sunday’s Canadian Grand Prix as he led home Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg for yet another dominant one-two.

Hamilton, 30, has just signed a new deal with the team and has been in the public eye in between races in recent months.

Jetting around the world, attending showbiz parties, spending time on yachts with reality TV personalities, driving in the Gumball Rally and shooting a cameo role in the new Zoolander film are just a few of his recent extra-curricular activities.

But he says that is as far as he will go for kicks after claiming last week he enjoys a ‘rock and roll lifestyle’ – insisting getting lost in a world of drink and drugs simply does not appeal.

“It’s very easy,” he said when asked about resisting such temptations in his current position.

“I’ve never even been close to being lost in that sense. It’s just the way I was raised. I’m not going to get lost, I can do anything I really want to do.

“Jumping off the boat, jumping off rocks, jet skiing, all those things I like to do, I still do them. That’s me going wild. There’s no other way I want to go.

“What else is there to do? I am already living life to the full.”

Hamilton’s win in Montreal was his fourth victory of the season.

Improving during qualifying is something Hamilton targeted at the start of the season after Rosberg took the pole position trophy in 2014.

“I do my talking on the track,” he said of his second title tussle with Rosberg.

“He’s driving well and I won the World Championship last year and can’t just drive the same. I’ve got to find ways of improving and I’ve been trying to.

“Nothing needs to be changed massively but I’ve been trying small things, improve my qualifying, my races are just as strong so I’ve just got to continue that: how do I improve the next race – how do I get the same lead as I had in Monaco again.”
