It is becoming increasingly evident that the present Labour administration is ill-prepared and unfit to govern the country. Since its election, it has been mired in controversy, lurching from one scandal to another and trying to deflect people’s attention by announcing a string of grandiose airy-fairy schemes which, in turn, fuel further controversy.

Rather than endeavouring to create production employment, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat has embarked on a dangerous path, entering into a number of secretive, shady deals, often with undesirable partners, raising strong whiffs of corruption.

Upon pressure from the top, some ministers have come out with almost farcical opinions, so inconsistent with their portfolio remit that they have been reportedly referred to as ‘stooges’.Others, when cornered, resortto shameful behaviour even in Parliament and give vent to personal attacks and deplorable mud-slinging.

This is not the right way to run the country. Except for the gullible and those who have sought personal gain, the people are gradually realising that the emperor has no clothes, and are harking for proper governance under a fresh, future Nationalist administration, with the able and respected Simon Busuttil at the helm.
