In my opinion, the locality of Birkirkara boasts some of the worst maintained roads on the island. I drive through these roads on a daily basis and my bike and car has to endure all the deep potholes, bumps and unevenness of asphalt bits. I dare say that some of them are main roads that are used by hundreds of motorists on a daily basis. Some of the worst are B. Bontadini Street, Old Church Street and Old Railway Road (all the way from St Aloysius’ College to the junction across from Corinthia Hotel).
Earlier this year we also witnessed the atrocious patching up with concrete the random ruptured tiles on Tumas Dingli Street, just opposite the Old Church!
Road licence fees are increasing by the year and VRT tests are also getting stringent, so yes, we do deserve adequate and worthy roads.
