When is the issue of the ‘filthy sludge status’ that has now become a common sight in St Paul’s Bay, and which is caused by the ever growing number of fish farm pens in the bay, going to be addressed?

I remember, some years ago, a number of the fish farm owners appeared on Xarabank to answer complaints from a number of divers and diving school owners, who had been diving in this area for many years, and were complaining about the sludge at the bottom of the sea.

The owners of the fish farms then vehemently denied responsibility for causing the sludge or for the fact that the seabed in the area of the diving sites was no longer visible.

However, I now wonder if the same people will again go on Xarabank and repeat this statement?

The authorities must take immediate action if they do not want this issue to get out of hand and spoil the summer for many.
