Judging by his reply (‘Teacher’s card’, The Sunday Times of Malta, May 31) Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna CEO Mario Farrugia seems to have got a bit too hot under the collar on reading my letter in which I complained that his organisation does not recognise the Teacher’s card issued by the Council for the Teaching Profession.

Without wishing to enter into any polemics with Farrugia, I wish to point out that if teachers are on a school cultural visit, they are allowed free entrance to cultural places.

However, if they are on their own or accompanying ticket-paying foreign friends, something I do whenever possible, their card is not valid. This is absolutely absurd.

I would also like to point out that as far as I know, and from searching Fondazzjoni’s websites, we senior citizens do not even have the option of benefiting from senior citizen concessions to visit these sites.
