A conference on the theme ‘Developing the green economy in Malta’ will be held on Friday by the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology’s Institute of Applied Science at Mcast’s main campus in Paola.

It will include presentations about how environmental initiatives, mainly relating to natural resources management, can improve socio-economic and environmental sustainability. Environment minister Leo Brincat and speakers from industry will address the conference.

The event will also include a symposium on the role of research and development to sustain green jobs.

Research will be presented on topics related to biodiversity and ecosystem services, ecological restoration, water technology, climate change, and energy and traffic management, and their implications for developing a green economy in Malta.

Mcast students on the advanced diploma in environmental sustainability and higher diploma in environmental conservation courses will also present work they carried out during placements with organisations and companies.
