On a recent morning at 9.30, I was on the ‘Galiet’ bus stop at Dragonara Road, in Paceville waiting for the No. 120 bus to go to San Ġwann. This bus runs every half an hour but no bus went by until 11.15am, by which time three buses should have gone by.

I returned home and called customer care of the public transport authority, who promised to call back with an answer.

Needless to say, the promised call never came.

Still needing to go to San Ġwann, I was on the bus stop at 3.45pm to catch the 4.05pm bus.

Still no bus passed. However, a tourist in a hired car, probably noticing an elderly person waiting in the sun, stopped and informed me that no buses were using this road as there was a closure at St George’s Bay.

I again went home to call Transport Malta who told me they did not know anything about this stoppage, adding that, to their knowledge, buses were running as usual and on time.

Later on in the evening someone told me that the road closure had been notified on Facebook.

So I ask: is the authority living on this earth or on Mars?

Is this the way public transport is run in Spain or am I having a bad dream?

What is being rammed down our throats?

What is our future transport going to be like?
