I refer to the article on the final question in the maths exam, which was not in the syllabus.

It is pathetic that pupils are given a question that is not in the syllabus considering that said syllabus is so vast. Why is it that, in Malta, no heads roll and no one is accountable for one’s mistakes?

No amount of remedies will ever compensate for the tension and stress that these pupils passed through. No wonder our children are so stressed out and then turn to drugs and alcohol.

Why is the education system in this country so punishing and exam-orientated? Why is it that Maltese examiners always try to catch pupils on one foot?

When I was a student we never had these problems when we sat for the London Board exams because they were fair and pupil-friendly, which is more than once can say for local exams.

Is being a sadistic person one of the requisites to sit on an examination board in Malta? How can one explain the fact that at the university there are courses which have negative marking in their exams, something which is unheard of in other countries.

The education system which is in place in Malta requires an urgent overhaul because it is ruining our children’s lives.
