Operated under the auspices of the Royal Australian Navy, STS Young Endeavour spent three days in Malta, having been invited to visit by the Malta Sail Training Association, who also enabled a Maltese person to sail from Turkey to Malta on board.

“Sail training is recognised as an excellent platform for youth and personal development. It is one of the true remaining adventures to experience, where one has to sail a square-rigged vessel as in the times before engines.

“It takes courage, teamwork and dedication but the friendships made and the adventures had remain with you forever,” said Malta Sail Training Association head Ben Stuart.

“We have been in the sail training world since 2012 and are pleased to have been able to provide such opportunities to 47 Maltese so far through numerous organisations and entities. We are now focusing on basing a tall ship to operate out of Malta,” Stuart added.
