Q: In February I paid a deposit on a bedroom set and the delivery date on the order was scheduled for mid-March.
Around mid-March, I went to the showroom to check about my order and was informed that the furniture cannot be delivered on the agreed date but that it would arrive at the end of April and delivered at the beginning of May.
Unwillingly, I accepted this new arrangement. A day before the furniture was meant to be delivered, I received a phone call from the showroom, informing me that the bedroom was once again delayed and that it would arrive in mid-June. I can’t wait for another six weeks, as I urgently need the new bedroom.
What are my consumer rights in this situation?
A: When goods are ordered and sellers do not honour the agreed delivery date written on the sales agreement, consumers have the right to cancel the order and be refunded any money paid when placing the order.
Furthermore, consumers may claim compensation for any additional expenses incurred due to the fact that the sale agreement was not honoured by the seller.
