Swimming, apart from being a necessary life-saving skill, is an excellent form of physical exercise as it’s a non-impact activity that caters for a wide variety of ability levels. It’s a skill that opens the doors to a number of other sports and may one day save your life and that of others.

The Sirens Swimpolo Nursery offers swimming, synchronised swimming and waterpolo lessons at the nursery’s outdoor pool in St Paul’s Bay in the summer months, as well as at Tal-Qroqq and Ta’ Qali swimming pools throughout the rest of the year. The nursery’s swimming classes cover all ages, from mothers and babies to toddlers, young children, teenagers and adults.

Lessons are intended to build self-esteem and assist the children’s personal growth

With the help of dedicated and fully qualified training staff, the emphasis at the nursery is on learning in a fun and enjoyable manner as well as in a safe and caring environment where the swimmer comes first. Lessons are intended to build self-esteem and assist the children’s personal growth by using encouragement and praise. Lessons offered by the nursery include the following categories: tadpoles, guppies, goldfish, turtles, seals, dolphins, development, juniors, seniors and elite, the latter three categories participating actively in all local six-weekly time trials and national competitions, as well as various international meets throughout the year.

Synchronised swimming is catered for in progressive lessons where swimmers learn a variety of synchronised swimming skills and routines.

The nursery also introduces waterpolo to swimmers in the form of swimpolo. Children interested in these classes must be buoyant and confident in water. Swimpolo is a smaller, more basic game than waterpolo and has been introduced to teach players of any age group up to 12 years old the basics of the adult game.

Children who like this game have the opportunity to enrol in waterpolo classes and eventually progress to competitive waterpolo.

Swimpolo and waterpolo are great multi-skill activities which focus on the fundamentals of aquatics and sport as a whole and which take into consideration athletic development. Sessions are conducted by fully qualified waterpolo coaches and participants will also have the opportunity to take part in various inter-club tournaments throughout the summer. The nursery also provides waterpolo sessions to under 11s, 13s, 15s and 17s. At this level, athletes take part in the summer competitions organised by the Aquatic Sports Association.
