A hooded man armed with a knife this morning made off with some €600 following  hold up of a lotto booth in Eucharistic Street, Mosta at around 10.30am.

The police said the thief demanded money from the 67-year-old owner of the establishment and fled the scene with the cash.

Some €3,000 were stolen in a similar hold up on a lotto booth in Fgura yesterday.

The police said they have intensified Rapid Intervention Unit patrols in the area.

Today's case is being investigated by the Mosta District Police, the police said as they appealed for information.
