I refer to the item ‘Where is the OHSA?’ in the On the Dot section (May 25) relating to works being undertaken at the Mellieħa primary school. Officers from the Occupational Health and Safety Authority (OHSA) had in fact already visited the site on May 20.

Upon noting a number of infringements of OHS legislation and dangers on site, a stop order was immediately issued following which all work on site was stopped.

A further visit to the site five days later verified that indeed no works were being carried out. This will be the case until the necessary documentation is received by the OHSA and remedial works are carried out by the employer in question to ensure that the site complies with OHS legislation.
