Bournemouth defied the odds last season as they sealed promotion to the Premier League for the first time after topping the standings in The Championship, pipping Watford for the crown by a single point.

Bournemouth wrapped up their season with a comfortable 3-0 victory at Charlton but Watford slipped up late, conceding an equaliser to Sheffield Wednesday in a one-all draw.

Bournemouth had been on the verge of liquidation in 2008 and a game away from going out of the Football League in 2009.

However, under manager Eddie Howe, they have now earned three promotions on the go, two of which have come in the past three years.

Howe, 37, joins a select band of managers to guide a team through the Football League and into the top flight, where the Cherries will earn an estimated £120m for their promotion.

Watford are back in the Premier League for the first time since 2006-07. The Hornets are managed by the Slavisa Jokanovic

The other promoted side from the Championship are Norwich City.

Earlier this week they beat Middlesbrough 2-0 in the play-offs final at Wembley Stadium.
