Federici: Premier League newcomers Bournemouth signed a second goalkeeper in two days yesterday, adding Australian international Adam Federici to their squad. He was a free agent after leaving Reading at the end of the season. On Tuesday, Bournemouth signed Polish international goalkeeper Artur Boruc, who had been on loan all season from south coast rivals Southampton.

King dies: MK Dons chief scout and former Everton midfielder Andy King has died at the age of 58. King died suddenly yesterday following a heart attack at his home, the Milton Keynes club announced. King represented many clubs during his playing career but it is for his two spells with Everton that he is perhaps best remembered. King scored 49 goals in six years between 1976 and 1984 for the Toffees, but none more memorable than the iconic strike that settled the 1978 Merseyside derby that etched his name into Everton folklore.

Kane: England striker Harry Kane continued his goalscoring exploits with two more as Tottenham beat a Malaysian XI 2-1 in a poorly attended friendly yesterday that was subjected to local protests. The 21-year-old poked home a rebound from close range in the 19th minute before finishing off a neat one-touch Spurs move two minutes before the break.

Welbeck: Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck will miss Saturday’s FA Cup final against Aston Villa due to a knee injury, manager Arsene Wenger confirmed yesterday. Welbeck had been regarded as doubtful after missing the last five league games of the season. “I was prepared for that because Danny didn’t practise until last Friday,” Wenger said.
