There are 867 people, mostly irregular migrants, in open centres, Home Affairs Minister Carmelo Abela told Carm Mifsud Bonnici (PN) in reply to a parliamentary question.

The largest number, 285, is managed by the Malta Emigrants’ Commission. The Ħal Far open centre houses 268 . The residents come from 34 different countries.
