Once again I have read in this paper about the impending water shortage crisis.

I moved to Malta over 10 years ago and remember some chap writing in the paper about it.

His saying was: if it’s brown flush it down, if it is yellow let it mellow.

I have lived by this rule ever since. If my washing up water isn’t greasy I use it to wash floors and water plants on the balcony. I also use it to flush the toilet.

I hope people in Malta realise just how precious their water is. Having been without it for a day a while ago with no warning beforehand, I appreciate it even more.

So, please, may I appeal to readers to use it wisely. I also bought a twin tub when my automatic washing machine broke so I can do two or three washes with one lot of water. And, once again, this is recycled. I cannot do anymore than that, can I?
