Two bus drivers were injured this morning as they tried to stop a moving driverless bus from crashing into a concrete barrier and two parked car.

They taken to Mater Dei Hospital suffering from grievous injuries. They are not in a critical condition.

Eyewitnesses said an inspector who was on site pulled one of the drivers out of the way and called out to the other one but he refused to move.

Other drivers told Times of Malta the driver who was taken to hospital was "crazy" about buses, especially that particular one.

The drivers, aged 31 and 34, are from Zabbar and Birkirkara, respectively.

The accident happened at the Valletta Terminus at around 9.30am.

In a statement, Malta Public Transport said it was investigating the accident thoroughly by the company to determine its exact cause.
