We have been visiting Għadira for the last 25 years. While we were on the second of our yearly stays, which sadly ended on May 19, we were shocked to hear about the latest submitted plans to turn the Costa Del Sol into a five-star hotel with 250 rooms and underground car park.
Surely when you already have not only the superb Mellieħa Bay Hotel with its mainly great Maltese staff, it’s wonderful gardens, the Mellieħa Holiday Village complex and also the large Seabank Hotel, all within walking distance, it is not really necessary.
Does it have to become a Benidorm?
God only knows what damage this project will do to the environment, the great beach, the magnificent scenery and of course to the local infrastructure, with even more traffic on a dangerous blind bend.
All will be affected and finally the wild life in the sanctuary! We do trust that plain old common sense prevails and these plans will be put on the back burner once and for all.
