Leicester manager Nigel Pearson wants Esteban Cambiasso to extend his stay after starring in the club’s great Premier League escape.

Argentina veteran Cambiasso proved a huge hit since joining from Inter last summer and was recently crowned Leicester’s player of the year.

Foxes’ fans implored him to stay during the season-finale against QPR on Sunday when the 34-year-old midfielder scored his fifth Leicester goal in the 5-1 rout of QPR.

“We hope he does stay and discussions are on-going,” Pearson said.

“We’d love him to be here again next year because he’s proven throughout the season that he brings an awful lot to a Premier League side, even at his age.”
