Let my people go, Moses told the pharaoh. The Jewish people then spent 40 years wandering in the desert until they reached the Canaan land where they lived and flourished.

During the Roman occupation, the Jewish people revolted against the Roman tyranny at Caesarea in Palestine.

Caesarea was built by Herod to honour Caesar. The Jews’ revolt was led by Bar Kokhba and Rabbi Akiva.

After years of fighting, the Romans won and all Jews were killed or they themselves killed each other rather than surrender to the Romans.

Akiva was captured by the Romans and skinned alive to serve as a warning for all. Ever since, the Jewish people were spread all over the world.

In the centuries that followed, the Jewish people suffered discrimination and became the scapegoat of every monarchy that was short of funds or needed somebody to blame.

Thousands upon thousands of Jews were tortured and killed by the Roman Inquisition. They were also subjected to yearly pogroms, mostly in the eastern regions of Ukraine and Russia.

They attacked, killed, raped and robbed of all their earthly goods. The film Fiddler on the roof gives a good idea of what took place during these pogroms.

It was only in the 1880s that some of the Jews plucked up the courage and decided to leave Ukraine to travel to their dream destination, the Holy Land, where they were welcomed and taken in by Palestinian Arabs.

In Palestine, there were only about 5,000 Jews who were old-fashioned and still lived as their forefathers had lived hundreds of years before.

More Jews moved to Palestine and, little by little, many Jewish communities started forming and growing there.

Jewish elders bought swamps from the Arabs and also from Turkish Sultan Abdul Hamid since Palestine was under the Ottoman Empire.

They cleaned and drained the swamps and turned them into fertile lands.

These settlers then started building the Kibbutz, which, originally, was how Marx and Engels envisaged communism should be like.

There, the Jewish settlers started coping with the influx of Jewish hordes.

The arrival of so many Jewish settlers began to worry the Arabs who were also jealous of how these managed to turn wasteland into flourishing fields and gardens.

If there is justice in this world, then the Palestinian people should have their land back

It was in 1917 that Lord Balfour made a declaration that raised the hopes of the Jewish people having their own state. He declared: “His Majesty’s government view with favour the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people and will use their best endeavours to facilitate the achievement of this object.”

It was decided that the Jews will have a third of Palestine, the rest being allocated to the Palestinian Arabs. It was in November 1947 when Israel obtained the required two-thirds majority support in the United Nations to became a State. The Arab nations revolted against this decision and vowed retaliation.

On May 14, 1948, when David Ben-Gurion declared the State of Israel, the Arabs attacked and were defeated by the Jews.

The Arab Palestinians caught in the middle of this conflict were terrified and, on hearing the Jewish soldiers were approaching, many left their homes and property in search of safety.

The irony is that the Jews kept the land and made it their own, leaving the Palestinians without any hope of ever having their property back.

From then on, from being oppressed, the Jews started becoming the oppressors. Not only was the land taken but was even extended by the 1967 war and, lately, by the settlers’ expansions of Arab territory.

Furthermore, the religious holy places in Jerusalem were taken over by the Jews.

To add insult to injury, a dividing wall was built on the premise that it was there to protect the Jews from Palestinian attacks. Most probably, this wall was built to serve as a mark of State separation. Further land expansions continue by the settlers with the State protection and blessing.

It is the Jews who make the decisions on finances, electricity, water, sea borders, building permits, taxes and permits for Palestinians to be able to cross over to work their own land.

Even American financial assistance to the Palestinians is given to the Jewish State to then distribute it as it deems fit to the Palestinians.

The Jewish State managed to enslave the Palestinian people in all aspects of life for so many years now and there is no hope of a final and just solution.

When Palestinians revolt and fight for their rights, they are branded “terrorists”.

The world speaks of rights. Many sessions are held at the United Nations. However, they are useless because they are always blocked by the United States and many, like me, believe it is not the Americans that dictate their own and world affairs because America is really led by the strong Jewish communities that finance presidential and governors elections.

If there is justice in this world, then the Palestinian people should have their land back and live side by side with the Jewish nation and those who also are entitled to their own State.
