Teachers are to benefit from €1.2 million worth of free Microsoft Office 365 software, Mita said today.

The scheme follows the Student Advantage programme launched last year.

The new scheme is due to be formally announced tomorrow by Education Minister Evarist Bartolo. It will be operated by the Ministry for Education  Malta Information Technology Agency (Mita), the Malta Union of Teachers (MUT) and Microsoft Malta.

The scheme will be applicable to all state schools, Church schools, independent schools, Mcast, the Higher Secondary School and Gozo Sixth Form.

Last year's Student Advantage Programme enabled students to use various Office 365 Education cloud-based productivity tools enabling them to communicate and collaborate more efficiently, access assignments in shared workspaces, have notes synchronised in OneNote and  use familiar applications such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel anywhere, anytime and across virtually any device (PC, Mac, Windows, Android, iOS). The offer allowed the students to sync up to five different devices.
