A stretch of Ordnance Street, Valletta, between the Parliament building and the open-air theatre is a shambles. Why hasn’t work in the area been completed? Is it a trademark of Maltese workers to start a job and not finish it? Visitors to the capital are left with a sour taste when they see this shoddy and incomplete job.

Binoculars needed

The owners of a building in Stella Maris Street, Sliema, have affixed their Mepa notices where they cannot be read, unless one is extremely tall or has binoculars. Mepa should make sure that such notices are visible to everyone.

Prolonged hazard

This sub-station in Mdina Road, Żebbuġ, was hit by a vehicle some three months ago. Enemalta had informed a Times of Malta journalist that the structure, which is in danger of collapsing, would be repaired. However, it is still in this state, although it has been cordoned off with red and white tape.

Skating to danger

Before some nasty accident occurs, the Ħamrun police should have a quiet word with the young guy who very often can be seen skating his way down St Joseph High Road from the direction of Santa Venera. He usually ends his run near the square opposite the police station. There he picks up his skateboard and boards a small white car, which would be waiting for him.

Where is the OHSA?

Parents and children at the Mellieħa primary school are being exposed to unnecessary hazards due to the haphazard manner in which works are being carried out. An example of this is a truck occupying the pavement, forcing pedestrians including children and parents with babies, to negotiate their way through the busy road at their own risk. There have been quite a number of near misses. The least authorities can do is ensure that all safety precautions are taken and that during mornings and afternoons, when children are entering and exiting school, works are temporarily suspended.
