Sliema Frank Salt Real Estate strengthened their squad last week with the signing of the young and talented Kai Dowling who played for Premier League rivals San Ġiljan AllCare last season.

During the official signing of the contract at their headquarters, Sliema ASC president Frank Testa said he was delighted to welcome Dowling to the club, adding that this was a move that could yield instant dividends for the Blues.

“Any new player you sign you hope will improve the quality the team already have,” Dr Testa said.

“In Kai Dowling we have a player who will surely complement our youth base in our bid to assemble a strong team for the future. However, he is also one who we hope will make us more competitive in the short-term.”

Dowling also expressed his satisfaction to have joined the most decorated club in Maltese waterpolo. He is confident that he can achieve all his ambitions with his new team-mates.

“This is a proud moment for me to join such a big club and I hope to repay the committee for the faith they have shown in me by helping Sliema challenge for the major honours,” Dowling said.

Dowling signed a six-year contract and follows in the footsteps of his father Kurt who had formed part of the victorious Sliema sides of the late 90s.

The BOV National League gets underway next month with the first matches scheduled for June 5.
