I read with great amusement the letter written by Sean Whyte about hunting (The Sunday Times of Malta, May 10) and I hope that he has cleansed himself of blood spattered on him during his short holiday on our beautiful island.

I wonder how many tourists of his kind are impressed by declarations made by the Committee Against Bird Slaughter and Birdlife who continuously complain about bird massacres to scare tourists away from Malta.

Whyte states that migrating birds are shot and refers to this practice as genocide, if he knows what it means.

May I inform him that in Germany over 13 million birds are shot, in France over 20 million birds are caught to be pickled in bottles, in Cyprus over 15 million birds are shot and in England foxes are hunted and pheasants are shot.

So why pick on beautiful little Malta? What about the thousands of unborn defenceless babies who are aborted in the UK?
