MSV launches guide to help investors understand fund

MSV Life has published the Simple Guide to the MSV With Profits Fund, the second in a series of publications aimed at helping the public understand financial matters.

The guide explains how the MSV With Profits Fund combines investors’ monies and invests in a wide range of assets including equity, bonds, property, cash and others. From the returns made, a bonus rate is declared on an annual basis and distributed to policyholders.

A feature of the fund is what is known as ‘smoothing’, a process of holding back some of the investment return in good years to support bonuses in times of weaker investment performance. This means the fund is able to declare a relatively similar bonus rate year-on-year.

Under current legislation, policyholders are not liable to pay any tax on investments in the fund, making it one of the most tax-efficient savings options available. For a free copy, e-mail info@msvlife.com.

Lufthansa passengers to get help from Apple Watch app

Lufthansa has developed an app for the new Apple Watch that allows passengers to use it as a boarding card and for essential flight information. The app reminds passengers of their flight the day before their departure, provides continuous updates about the status of the flight and displays the boarding time, terminal, gate and seat number.

These functions will initially only be available to Miles & More participants who are logged in to the Lufthansa app for iPhones or iPads. For passengers who do not have a Miles & More card, these functions will be available at a later date.
