Seven students from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Malta were awarded a mention in the Dean’s List for their outstanding achievements. The students – Jonathan Camilleri, Eucharist Gravina, Christine Kunkler, Christina Meli, Jonathan Polidano, Kay Polidano and Geraldine Sammut attended the event, which was supported by Bank of Valletta for the 15th year running.

“Bank of Valletta’s role in the community goes beyond what we deliver through our core business activities. Education occupies a key position in our community programme because we strongly believe in the importance of collaborating towards the holistic development of the upcoming generation. Here we are giving our support to students who have shown exceptional commitment in their studies,” said John Paul Abela, the bank’s media and community relations manager.

To qualify for this award, students need to achieve excellent grades during the first two years of their BA or BA Hons degree. Faculty of Arts dean Dominic Fenech joined Mr Abela in congratulating the students on their achievement and thanked the bank for its ongoing support.

Prof. Fenech said only the top-performing students featured in the list. Usually this works out to one in every 100 but this year, like last year, the rate was higher. This bears testimony to both the higher quality of students and the rising standards of teaching and learning within the faculty, he added.
