A contemporary photography exhibition, Beyond Love, is currently showing at St James Cavalier, Valletta.

The exhibition brings together 20 established and up-and-coming photographers from Malta and overseas in an effort to expose the emotional duality of human relationships and their aftermath.

The exhibition is subdivided into two themes. The first, Devotion, captures intimacy in its various forms, including those challenging stereotypes and the perceived status quo. Cruel World, as the heading suggests, presents the backwash from the former: desolation, remnants of love and self-reflection. The works on show range from friendship to kinship, religion and erotica, with images of love and human intimacy balanced by others, echoing emptiness, grief and self-reflection.

The exhibition is a Platinum Love project and the brainchild of its director, Matthew Attard-Navarro. It is curated by Fabrizio Mifsud Soler. Participating artists are Antony Bou, Alessandro Furchino, Andy Massaccesi, Alexandra Pace, Magnus Åström, Matt Lambert, Quentin , De Briey, Oliver Clément, Alba Yruela, Clément Louis, Eric Lawton, Jon Banthorpe, Justin Leveritt, Julian Vassallo, Luca Grottoli , Lia Sáile, Rebekah Campbell, Stephanie Sant, Tim Barber and Winter Van Denbrink.

Beyond Love shows until next Sunday and is supported by the Malta Arts Fund.
