The teachers’ union will not allow changes in job descriptions or redundancies to take place as part of the reform being proposed at the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology.

The MUT wrote to the Education Minister asking a series of questions, including whether the proposed reform was another fait accompli due to the fact that Mcast had already issued a call for applications for heads of college when lecturers hardly had the time to digest proposals that included the merging of institutes and the reorganisation of the college.

It asked about the roles of the heads, what the new role of director of institutes would entail and whether it made sense to establish three colleges within an institution that was already a college.
