The excitement is building up at the National Stadium ahead of the FA Trophy final between champions Hibernians and Birkirkara which kicks off at 5pm.

Hundreds of flag-waving fans of the two teams have already made their way to the stadium amid expectations of a good turn-out for the final game of the 2014/15 season.

Television crews have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of Italian player Fabrizio Miccoli after reports emerged that the former Juventus and Palermo forward has travelled to Malta to hold talks over a possible move to Birkirkara next season.

Talking to Times of Malta, Miccoli, who turns 36 next month, said he has come to Malta to meet some friends.

Asked whether he was considering a move to Birkirkara for next season, Miccoli said, he is currently evaluating his options but didn't rule out the possibility of joining the Stripes.

Miccoli said, for the time being, he just wants to have a break from football after "a particular season".

Miccoli last played for Lecce.
