Kombouare: Antoine Kombouare is “90 per cent” sure he will leave Lens following their relegation from Ligue 1. The Pas-de-Calais club will definitely finish bottom of the league when the season ends tomorrow, and former Paris St Germain boss Kombouare is not convinced he is the right man to lead a fresh push for promotion. He told L’Equipe: “In my head, I’m 90 per cent leaving, but there is a remaining 10 per cent there because I have a year left on my contract.

Sheringham: Former Tottenham, Man. United and England striker Teddy Sheringham will take up his first managerial role at Stevenage, the English fourth tier club said yesterday. The 49-year-old, who has spent the last 12 months as an attacking coach at West Ham, replaces Graham Westley whose contract expires on May 31. Sheringham had a 25-year playing career, scoring 288 goals in 755 league games for nine clubs and winning 51 England caps before retiring at the age of 42.

Gascoigne: Paul Gascoigne was awarded £188,250 in phone hacking damages from Mirror Group Newspapers at the High Court. The former England footballer was one of eight payees announced at London’s High Court following a three-week hearing in March. Lawyer Gerald Shamash said he was “delighted and relieved with today’s result”, while Gascoigne argued that the phone hacking had contributed to his long term struggle with alcohol and after the hearing said: “I would like to trade my mobile phone in for a coffin because these guys have ruined my life,” he said.

Liverpool: Winger Jordon Ibe and defender Jon Flanagan have signed new contracts at Liverpool. The pacy 19-year-old Ibe, who has signed a “long-term” deal, has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Anfield, making 13 appearances since being recalled from Championship side Derby in January. Flanagan has not featured in this campaign due to injury and is set to miss a further six to nine months following knee surgery in April.
