Champions Hibernians were in a class of their own in the final of the Knock-Out as they pummelled Luxol Raiders 6-0 at the Centenary Stadium to make it a memorable treble after winning the league title a few weeks back plus the Super Cup at the start of the season.

Ylenia Carabott opened the scoring on six minutes.

Hibs held control but left it until late in the first half to increase their lead as Dionne Tonna and Martina Borg were again on the mark for their team to make it 3-0 at the half-time whistle.

Any hopes of a second-half revival from Raiders were dashed after the restart when Dorianne Theuma added a fourth for Hibs who scored two more goals for good measure late on through Borg and Carabott.

Hibs captain Tonna could not hide her excitement, telling Times of Malta that she was very proud of her team after “a long season in which we worked very hard until the very end”.

“We were stronger on the night, but a final is always a tough game and you cannot underestimate your opponents,” Tonna added.

This was the fourth time Hibs have won the KO following the successes of 2001, 2004 and 2006.

Hibs can now go into the summer break before regrouping in July for pre-season training with their eyes on the Champions League qualifying rounds.
