Jeffrey Pullicino, the executive chairman of the Malta Council for Science and Technology, has a salary of €33,835, a performance bonus amounting to 10 per cent of his salary, and an expense allowance of €2,096.

Deputising for Education Minister Evarist Bartolo, Social Dialogue Minister Helena Dalli told Jason Azzopardi (PN) that Dr Pullicino Orlando also enjoys a “market correctivity allow-ance” of €11,647, car allow-ance of €4,193, fuel allowance of 150 litres a month, and paid internet and mobile.

Dr Dalli said Dr Pullicino Orlando was directly ap-pointed on the basis of trust.

Answering another question, Dr Dalli said the principal of the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology, Stephen Cachia, has an annual salary of €55,000, a fuel allowance of 150 litres per month, expense allowance of €2,096 and a fully paid landline, internet and mobile. Mr Cachia, who was already a member of the public service, was directly appointed after approval by the Office of the Prime Minister.

Environment Minister Leo Brincat said WasteServ CEO Tonio Montebello has a salary of €47,000, car allowance of €4,658, expenses of €2,784, annual fixed-line of €2,000, mobile and internet service and a performance bonus – a total package of €56,450. This, Mr Brincat said, was €3,150 cheaper than that given by the previous administration.

He was also directly appointed on the basis of trust.
