United Nations Special Representative to Libya Bernardino Leon told Labour MEP Miriam Dalli in a letter that irregular migration has been included in the high level discussions in Libya.

He was replying to a letter from Dr Dalli last month, calling for measures to prevent loss of life at the Libyan coast to be included in the agenda of the ongoing peace talks between Libyan parties.

Her initiative had garnered the support of 65 MEPs from different parties and states. A similar letter was also sent to the European Union's High Representative Federica Mogherini.
