I read a number of years ago in Times of Malta a report by an expert on the aquifers of Malta.

The expert stated that potable water flowed from the main aquifer situated in the area north of Golden Sands into the sea at the rate of tens of thousands of litres every day.

If this is the case perhaps someone from the university could check salinity levels along that stretch of the coastline.

Once a promising site is found, drilling a few holes perhaps low in the cliff face, together with the installation of a pump, is not beyond the wit of man. Or is it?

Rather than putting the job out to tender, perhaps someone would do it for a small charge on each litre extracted.

Obviously, the rate of extraction and quality of the water would need to be monitored closely.
