We read a great deal about poor families who are living in squalid conditions unable to make ends meet and depending on charity.

On the opposite side of the coin we read about the appointment of a number of so-called ‘advisers’ and ‘consultants’ who must be receiving millions of euros between them.

An idea would be to ask these lucky people to set up a fund from their income to help these unfortunate families live a decent life. We have a situation where many of these advisers are receiving a number of fringe benefits as well as enormous salaries.

Such a fund would be administered by the government to ensure fairness all round. This is just an idea which would help those fellow Maltese lead a decent life.

Perhaps if that prolific contributor to Times of Malta, Eddy Privitera, were to support this suggestion it might come about...
