Former Inter player Nicola Berti is visiting Malta between June 18 and 22 as guest of Inter Club Malta.

“Inter Club Malta is honoured that Nicola Berti has accepted our invitation to spend some days on our islands and meet the Inter supporters,” the Inter Club Malta said in a statement.

“In the coming days, Inter Club Malta will give more details about the activities planned for the club members during Berti’s visit.”

Berti, 48, is regarded as an Inter legend after making 229 appearances for the Nerazzurri between 1988 and 1998, scoring a total of 29 goals.

During his 10-year spell with Inter, Berti won the UEFA Cup in 1991 and 1994, scoring in both finals.

An enterprising midfielder in his prime, Berti scored in the 1991 final when Inter beat Roma 2-1 on aggregate. Three years later, Berti was also on target in the away leg of the UEFA Cup final against Austria Salzburg with Inter claiming the trophy after a 2-0 aggregate win.

That squad, led by Giovanni Trapattoni, is still remembered as ‘L’Inter dei record’ (Inter of records).

Berti has also played 39 times for Italy, scoring three goals. He was part of the squad that reached the semi-finals of the 1990 World Cup, held in Italy, as well as the one that lost to Brazil on penalties in the 1994 World Cup final in the US.
