Bristol City, the Rockin’ Robins of the Football League, are back in The Championship after a two-year absence.

Before being demoted to League One in 2012-13, Bristol City had spent six years in The Championship.

They became the first side in the Football League to win promotion this season as they booked their place in the second tier of English football by beating Bradford 6-0.

City totalled 92 points after their 27th league victory of the season at Valley Parade.

This season, Bristol City became the first club to win the Football League Trophy on three occasions after beating Walsall 2-0 in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium.

League Two was won by Burton Albion who, six seasons ago, were promoted from the non-League Conference.

Two years ago, Shrewsbury Town were relegated from League One but recovered and next season will be back to the third tier of the English game.

Bury bounced back to League One after spending one season in the lowest division of the Football League.

Meanwhile, Cheltenham and Tranmere fell out of the Football League and will be replaced by Conference Premier champions Barnet and play-off final winners Bristol Rovers.

Tranmere have never played non-league football since they entered the Football League as original members the Third Division (North) in 1921.
