The FKNK hunters' federation is to meet the government this morning to discuss the siting of the proposed university and the new nature park in the south of Malta.

In a statement the federation referred to its May 16 statement and the way it was reported by sections of the media.

It said it acknowledged the government commitment to attract investment but the government should consider all possibilities for the project not to impinge on virgin land.

It said it had not teamed up with BirdLife Malta and the Archbishop against the government over this project. It noted that both BirdLife and the Archbishop had wanted to abolish spring hunting.

(BirdLife and the Archbishop have both said the new university should not be on virgin land).
