Lille full-back Sebastien Corchia has raised the possibility he could turn his back on France to represent Italy at international level.

Corchia won 26 caps for France at under-21 level and recently alluded to what he described as a “pre-selection” for the senior team.

But he has yet to make his full debut and, now 24 and also eligible for the Azzurri, is open to any route into senior international football.

“Only those who are born and raised with dual culture can understand how difficult it is to choose,” he told Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Dual nationality is a resource and brings the right to choose, if it comes to a real choice and not just speculation.

“I was developed in Clairefontaine (the French national academy), I came through the youth system with France and logic would dictate that this route would continue, but this is not automatic.

“I also have an Italian culture. Many relatives live in Milan, I go there often, I speak Italian, I grew up following Serie A. If the call came from (Italy coach Antonio) Conte, I would seriously take it into account.”
