The Palumbo shipyard said today it is investing €3.5 million on energy saving equipment, reducing its costs and greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuels.

It said it will be installing 140 watt LED floodlighting which will reduce the lighting energy consumption by 65-70%, for an approximately reduction of 18,000 kWh.

It will also install a number of power factor correctors which will result in a saving of approximately 8% on the total cost.

The company will also be installing a large number of photvoltaic panels which will contribute to reduce about 4,000 t of CO2 emissions every year.
