Seasoned trap shooter Frans Pace was back in the limelight after winning the Malta International Tumas Group Trap Grand Prix at the Bidnija ranges, yesterday.

Pace, who represented the country at various levels on the international scene in a career spanning more than two decades, made it to the top step of the winners’ rostrum after claiming the gold medal in a shoot-off with James Galea Jr.

The competition, organised by the Malta Shooting Sport Federation, was contested over 125 clays. The top six shooters qualified for the semi-finals and the medal matches.

Stephen Vella took third place after emerging winner in a tight play-off for third place with Nicky Carabott.

Shooters from Britain also took part in the Grand Prix but none of them managed to make the finals.
