Claire Ciantar was named both top female model and top female photomodel at this year’s Malta Fashion Awards, which concluded the fifth edition of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Malta in style.

Diandra Mattei won the make-up artist award and Manuel Bonnici was named best male model/photomodel at the Chamilia Malta Fashion Awards, which was held on Saturday night at the Marsa Shipbuilding, bringing to an end a week-long series of events.

Kurt Paris received the photographer award, Caroline Paris the fashion stylist award, Marielle Calleja the hairstylist award and Daniel Azzopardi the bloggers’ award.

The nail technician award went to Romina McCairn and Gaetano Busuttil won best new designer.

Valentina Rossi received the ‘outstanding’ award for having won in three previous editions.

The event is considered as a top opportunity for designers, models, hairstylists, make-up artists, photographers and other ancillary professions in the fashion industry to display their work.

No fewer than 32 designers took part – the labels included 25 Maltese designers and designers from the UK, Serbia, France, Cyprus, Nigeria and the US.

Another 40 high-street fashion brands took part in separate shows and several other related sectors such as fashion photography, jewellery, hairstyling and make-up.

In collaboration with the V18 Foundation, most of the shows were held in Valletta in locations not normally associated with fashion.

These include the new parliament building area, Palazzo de la Salle, the premises of the Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry, the Palace, St George’s Square, the Mediterranean Conference Centre, Lascaris Wharf, The Point, in Sliema and the Garden of Serenity, Santa Luċija.
