The Malta Union of Bank Employees said this morning it has asked the director of industrial relations to arrange a conciliation meeting between it and HSBC to amicably resolve their long-standing dispute over pay.

The union said it had made the request in terms of employment law after the bank failed to respond to a mediation offer by the Office of the Prime Minister.

The union held a two-day strike last month following the stalemate which has prevented the signing of a new collective agreement.
