A 37-year-old man from Swieqi this afternoon pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography and to assaulting two police officers, slightly injuring one of them.

Keith Falzon admitted to possession of hundreds of photographs found by the police on an SD card. Sources said the photographs were not hard core child porn but pictures of children in the nude.

When he was approached by the police at around 7.30pm on Saturday, Mr Falzon resisted arrest, slightly injuring a woman police officer.

Mr Falzon also pleaded guilty to disobeying police orders and committing the offence during the operative term of a suspended sentence handed down in 2013.

Magistrate Neville Camilleri warned Mr Falzon of the consequences of his admission, saying he had no option but to send him to jail.

He postponed the case for judgment to May 28 and in the meantime granted Mr Falzon bail against a personal guarantee of €5,000.

Police Inspectors Sylvana Briffa and Edel Mary Camilleri prosecuted while lawyer Roberto Montalto appeared for Mr Falzon.
