Seashells Resort at Suncrest has reopened following a €7 million refurbishment project and will now remain open all year round.

The works were carried out by just over 350 workers in five months, and included the complete stripping and refitting of all the 452 rooms. The resort was also fitted with high-speed lifts, eco-friendly systems, new room management systems, a new plant room and new air-conditioning system.

“This complements the €550,000 investment undertaken last year during which the Seashells Resort at Suncrest was given a completely new main kitchen, with state-of-the-art equipment as well as a refurbished main restaurant – the Coral Cove,” Angelo Xuereb, AX Holdings chairman, said.

Tourism Minister Edward Zammit Lewis welcomed the fact that the hotel would be open year-round.

“Research shows that there are thousands who are looking at a winter holiday in Malta. In fact, such tourists are on the increase, for example this amounted to 60,000 tourists last December alone, he said.
