The Gaulitanus Choir will be dedi- cating its forthcoming opera, Rigoletto, to the memory of Maltese tenor Paul Asciak, who passed away recently.

Asciak is remembered for his great contribution to the local musical scene, particularly due to his international career (which also included per-formances of Rigoletto), his involvement in musical administration and especially as being the mentor behind tenor Joseph Calleja.

He was also a supporter of Gaulitanus Choir, often honouring the choir with his presence at the choir’s events, the last being at last year’s Tosca.

The production of Rigoletto will also see the introduction of a pre-opera talk by Albert Storace, who will give a short talk about Asciak. The talk will be held at the Aurora’s Francesco Masini Hall at 7pm. Asciak’s wife, Bice, will be present.

Rigoletto is being held on Friday at 8pm at the Aurora Opera House.
