Silence is a vital and spiritual non-negotiable value. It’s neither a craving nor a reality, only valuable for some. It’s an essential virtue for the growth of all kinds of people.

Spaces of silence are needed for decision-making with freedom and for listening to the conscience and of the movements of the soul in our most profound privacy. Because of that, the service that the Jesuit community gives through Mount St Joseph Retreat House is priceless.

Malta is well-known by many foreigners – I am one of them – not only for its history and its artistic treasures but also for its unique corners that become a spiritual reserve for humanity at large.

Therefore, I want to lend my unconditional support to the Jesuits and their Provincial, who are defending a just cause for the benefit of all of us.
